Class allocation Policy

Background and Rationale:
Subject to the number of pupils who enrol in St. Malachy's BNS, it may be necessary on occasion, to divide class levels, in order to ensure balanced class numbers. The criteria used, has been agreed by the Board of Management as the fairest and most equitable solution to mixing classes.

Children from each class grouping will be listed chronologically according to their age. Classes will be divided by the Principal when and where necessary using this list as the sole criteria.

Parents can be assured that this is a tried and trusted system, which is common to schools across the coutry and that children will follow the same curriculum, use the same learning materials and have the same opportunities.

These criteria will serve future situations where composite classes are necessary.

Criteria for splitting classes:
  1. Classes will be split according to their age

This policy was ratified by the Board of Management on May 8th, 2017
