Sport
St. Malachy’s Boys offers a wide and varied range of sports for our pupils to participate, compete and have fun in.  These include:

GAA:  We have a proud tradition of Gaelic Games in our school and we compete in the Cumann na mBunscol events.  We also offer coaching in partnership with Louth GAA and the local Dundalk Gaels G.A.C.  Our Gaelic Football ‘Lunchtime League’ competition is open to all boys in the school and is keenly contested for the coveted Fr. Kane Cup in the summer term.

Soccer: Boys get the opportunity to play soccer in the yard at lunchtime as well as participating in the FAI and Dundalk FC events.  The interclass ‘Friary World Cup’ is open to all our pupils and is always a highlight of the Winter term.

Rugby: In partnership with coaches from Dundalk Rugby club, various classes get the opportunity to experience tag rugby, learn the rules and enjoy attending blitzes.

Athletics:  Our annual school Sports Day showcases the many athletic talents our pupils possess.  This is a fun day of skill, challenges and teamwork.  The Calaroga Cup Relay race is hosted and organised by our school in the Friary Field.  Schools from all over Dundalk come together to compete in an event that dates back to the 1960’s!

Other sports include: Swimming, Basketball, Rounders and more!

We sincerely thank the many skilled coaches who assist our staff to offer a wide and varied range of sports for our pupils to enjoy.

Drama Shows
Our biennial Easter shows ran on Wednesday the 13th and 20th of March 2024 with a variety of classes taking part each night. We would like to say how very proud we are of the boys. They have dedicated themselves to their shows, all in the name of entertaining friends and family, and there is no doubt they achieved that and much more!!
